Golfing partners score double hole-in-one on same hole
Two golfing partners have scored a double hole-in-one on the same hole at a course in Aberdeenshire.
Martin Pucci and Trevor Ironside teed off one after the other on the par three 11th at MacDonald Golf Club.
The pair assumed their shots had run through the green until they found both balls nestling in the cup.
Dr Pucci, 53, said: "We walked to the green but there were no balls - we could not believe both balls had apparently gone through the green.
"Trevor asked me to look in the hole and I said, 'Oh my God they're both there'. It's an amazing feeling. Nobody seems to have heard of anything like it before."
The The Scotsman reports the pair admitted they were "in a daze", but went on to finish their round at the club in Ellon.
Man gets £25,000 from father-in-law's will for golf lessons
A man has been left £25,000 in his father-in-law's will to spend on golf lessons.
Former Scottish police chief inspector Robert Anderson left the cash to Alan Douglas who lives in Toronto. The will said the cash is for Alan "to improve his golf".
Mr Anderson, who worked for Glasgow police, left an estate of over £2 million.
Golf may be Dutch - not Scottish
Scotland may not be the home of golf after all after evidence was found linking its origins with Holland.
A sports historian has found the rules written down in a 16th century document.
He says Scotland's long-standing 15th century evidence is not for a form of golf but a type of street hockey.
Heiner Gillmeister, of Bonn University, says he has also found the first visual evidence of the sport in an 18th century Dutch painting which shows a man hitting a ball with a stick.
Experts at the British Golf Museum in Scotland admit the sport's origins are confused but says Scotland was the first country to hit the ball into a hole.
