Question 159

It seems that when I do your drills using only the right hand, the ball goes exactly where I aim it, but when the left hand is introduced into the swing I become inconsistent. However, if I grasp the club in my left hand with my left thumb going around the grip like gripping a baseball bat and keep my right hand exactly like you teach I find that not only does the inconsistent ball flight go away but I release the club better driving the ball as much as forty yards farther. I have seen pictures of golfers in the early 1900's using this grip. Is there any reason that I cannot use this grip with the IMA system?

Or should I abandon this grip altogether?

None at all. In fact this was the grip I used when I shot a 64 with 7 lip-outs. I changed because of the left hand thumb knuckle digging into my right wrist.
