![]() Question 27 Scott, I am a new (2 yr) golfer and interested in natural golf. I already have the video from Moe (from Golf Digest). I would like to know what is your recommendation on what steps to take to start natural golf. I would like to minimize cost until I can determine if I am comfortable with this new approach. Currently the weakest (not to say that any part of my game is strong with a 22 handicap) part of my game is driving. There is no consistency with my drives. Any recommendation on starting my natural golf path would be appreciated. Thanks, Ray Dear Raymond, The first steps in becoming a single axis golfer is to become familiar with the technical advantages of the grip and wrist motion. My video, The IMA Way, shows the correct grip, stance, wrist, and hand and arm motion. The complete downward stroke is shown, which is the exact motion that Moe Norman uses. Unfortunately, Natural Golf teaches a inaccurate motion that is based on false perceptions and idiosyncratic motions of Moe, instead of just the nuts and bolts of straight line motion. When I left Natural Golf, as Vice President of Golf Operations and Master Certified Instructor (the only one), things changed and not for the better. Natural Golf became obsessed with having people look like a 67 year old Moe Norman and not with what science shows to be the ideal mechanical advantage motion. The least costly way to learn single axis straight line motion is to attend one of my golf schools or private sessions. In the long run it will save money over going to instructors who do not know or understand the correct motions, and if they cannot play to scratch or better they have no clue. This is why inevitably students come to me after trying natural golf from other sources like the Heard Super swing and the Natural Golf schools. By learning incorrect perceptions and faults, you spend more time, more money, and more effort just to get back to where you started from. My students lower their handicaps immediately! Natural Golf students typically go to a higher handicap and then work their way back down to where they started, if they are fortunate enough to do so. I have many reports that lists this kind of tragedy. PLEASE, BE CAREFUL with the information you are receiving! Feel free to contact me so you do not get led astray! Warm personal regards, Dial a Shot Scott
