![]() Question 63 Dear Scott, I am a teaching professional trying your method. I have just received one of your 5 irons, but have not had a chance to hit it yet. My question is, what are the advantages to using the 10 finger grip? I have been trying to use it but am having trouble getting as much distance as I did with a single axis overlapping grip. Should I keep practicing or go back to the overlapping grip?
Thanks, Gary, The only advantage to 10 finger grip is it allows you to get into single axis easier. Since you are having no problem in achieving single axis with overlapping that is acceptable. Remember, from down the target line position, a person behind you would be able to reach under you right forearm and not hit the handle. If you can do that you are single axis. Normally people with larger hands find the overlapping more comfortable. I have some students that use a reverse overlap and find that very beneficial as well.
