Question 9

Q: Do you think that heavier clubs produce greater accuracy than your conventional titanium light weight materials?

A: The advantage claimed for titanium is because it is lighter than steel, clubmakers can make the heads larger. I recently answered a question on larger heads, and explained that they don't have any benefits other than psychological.

Accuracy is a matter of an on-line, center hit. In other words, accuracy depends on your swing. Use the swing weight that is best for you. Incidentally, the next trend in head design is going back to bulge and vertical roll features that produce better shots.

Another claim for titanium is greater distance. USGA testing confirms that titanium heads do not improve distance. Distance, as I recently answered comes from club head speed at impact, and again a centered hit.
