Question 437

I have a question on shaft type.

From Alden:

I was using a Titleist Driver 9.5* UST75 Stiff shaft and was hitting it consistently straight, but the drawback was I had too much loft on the club which caused me to lose the distance.  I recently purchased a Titleist 7.5* UST75 Stiff shaft thinking that with less loft I'd get more distance.  I can still hit the ball fairly well, but discovered that it is more difficult for me to get the correct ball flight like I had with the 9.5*.  I think I made a wrong choice in shaft type.  Can you tell me if there is some correlation between loft, torque and shaft type?  Should I have purchased a Regular flex or Graphite Shaft instead of the Stiff Flex.

You are looking for launch angle between 9 and 10 degrees and spin rate under 2,500.  There is no substitute for testing to determine what is most optimal for you.  Many places offer this now.
