Question 442

How large should grips be?

From D.J.

I have your tapes and have been working on mastering your swing and so far things are going OK.  As of late, I have developed a hook and I can't seem to get rid of it.  It's not a huge duck hook, but it does throw my ball off target way to the left.  It's not a draw because there is no right to left motion.  It's more of a straight as a string shot that all of the sudden turns left.  This is new to me since before I started with your IMA swing I was a pretty bad slicer.  What am I doing wrong?  I want the straight line shot with pure backspin!  I purchased the Impact grips.  Is it possible that they are too big for me?

Yes, it is.  I use a midsized grip with a taper, not Jack's oversized.  The grip size is not part of the principle.  You just need the grip large enough to prevent slippage, the 2 points must be secure.
