    BALL STRUCK MORE THAN ONCE

Basic Rules

a ball may be struck only once by the club in the course of a stroke (R14.4)

    *only once
  • struck straight up in the air and landed on mud on the club face - no breach of R14.4 above but deemed to have been stopped by the player - breach of R19.2 - loss of hole/2 stroke penalty and ball to be dropped as near as possible to where it stuck to the club (D14.4/1).
    NB D1.4/2 - allowed ball played from sand and stuck to club in similar circumstances to be dropped without penalty.

    *in the course of a stroke
  • after a stroke the ball rebounded off a pipeline and struck the club - no penalty (D.14.4/2) for multiple strike but loss of hole/2 stroke penalty as ball deemed stopped by player.
