Be Happy with Your Putter!

The best definition of golf I've ever heard is six words. Hit ball, with stick, into hole.

Rule 1-1 of "The Rules of Golf" tells us that the game is played by playing a ball "into the hole". You can go through an entire golf career and never hit a driver, or a 1-iron or a 3-iron, and so on, BUT there is one club that you simply cannot avoid - the putter!

The concept of par allows for two putts per green. Over eighteen holes that totals 36 putts and that figure is exactly half of 72 which could well be the par for the entire course. In essence, therefore, the game that we all love and play is designed so that for, at least, half the time you are expected to have a putter in your hands. Do you spend half of your practice time putting??

Find a minimum of FIVE MINUTES, EVERY DAY to get a putter in your hands. Even if you only roll some gentle putts across the living room carpet at home. Make your putting stroke confident and consistent. Roll your putts across the carpet to an object that is a KNOWN distance away. Be happy with your putter.
