![]() Moe Norman Background Information
Born in Ontario, Canada, in 1929, he has been described by Lee Trevino as "a genius when it comes to playing he game of golf." (Golf, May, 1989) In a 1988 interview conducted for "The Fifth Estate," a Canadian television program, Trevino was emphatic. "I do not know any player," he said, "who could strike a golf ball like he can, as far as hitting it solid, knowing where it's going, knowing the mechanics of the game and knowing what he wanted to do with the golf ball." In his prime he was probably the most accurate ball striker in the history of the game, better even, some say, than Ben Hogan. In 1963, he had a stroke average of just above 68. Unfortunately, his shyness and discomfort with being outside Canada kept him off the American PGA Tour. As a result, he is not well known to amateur golfers in America. But, since the 1950's, he has been a legend among generations of PGA Tour players. He continues, in the 90's, to demonstrate his sheer artistry at clinics in Canada and the U.S. The swing mechanics that Moe developed, using his instintive genius, were independently discovered by Jack Kuykendall. These mechanics which Scott Hazledine demonstrates in our new video, Master the Golf Swing, give every golfer the highest probability of hitting accurate shots. Norman's record and reputation speak volumes about his mechanics.
